Crosswinds Press, Inc. is a boutique publishing house that emphasizes children’s picture books that have a moral or “life” lesson embedded in them.  The books of interest to the Press target what has been identified as an underserved market segment of the $35.6 billion dollar children’s book industry:  preschool through the third grade (i.e., early readers).

Crosswinds Press is organized as a virtual corporation that partners with other companies to perform many of the activities in the firm’s value chain.  Crosswinds Press retains direct control over only those activities deemed to be its core competencies:  acquisition and distribution.

The first series of books that have been signed by Crosswinds Press debuted in October, 2009. Wil, Fitz and a Flea Named T, The Boomerang, The Bad Enchilada and A Line in the Sand are the first books in the series written by CJ Connolly and illustrated by Lisa Adams. Future titles obtained by Crosswinds Press in this series include: Vive la Différance, The Lemonade Stand and Reflections. 

The Bad Enchilada

Reading to my kids has always been something I have done, because I really feel it's important to their learning. My children will act out the story that they heard during pretend play. It tells me they really are paying attention, and it's bonding time as well. Books that have lessons in them weather it be letters, colors, or like these two great books, sharing and ways to handle situations better then a first reaction. I have found there are books on the market my kids would just assume not listen to and get rather restless I am happy to say that these to books, are great reads and even my 2 year old seemed intrigued. My oldest daughter really struggled with Math last year, when she was doing adding and subtracting, and I was desperate to find a way to help her, that would hold her attention long enough to make her understand how to do it. She loves Tv like most kids, and I know my younger two have really learned from watching the repeats  of Dora. 


I know I can be confident in my choice to allow my children to watch any one of the Rock N' Learn DVD's. Do I think that she benefited from the DVD? well I do find the kids singing the songs, when they think I'm not paying attention.   Her math isn't such a struggle going into this school year either so I would have to say Yes, It really did! I can't wait to see what else could help my kids, while still allowing them to watch a little TV.

THE GREEN DREAM in the beginning

Children bring all kinds of wonderful gifts with them when they enter the world. When our first child, Layla, was born, she brought us a whole new perspective on everything; from our lack of foresight as to how many diapers we'd need to pack for an afternoon on the town, (at least eight), to the true nature of reality and our place in it, (haven't figured that one out yet!).

As part of finding my way with her, I left a career in the fashion industry where I was promoting products and ideas for women, and men, that I didn't want for my own daughter.

I started Green Babies with a simple idea:

That every baby is wonderful and deserves the best, most comfortable, cutest, most well constructed, softest, irritant-free clothes. (Without breaking Mom and Dad's budget!)

I began by sewing and screen-printing the first Green Babies during my baby's nap time. I sold quite a few 'basics' … 

Movin' On Up

Green Babies packing and shipping department (that is, my friends and I at the kitchen table) was really squeezing us out of our city loft. At the same time, we were expanding our family, with the birth of our second daughter, Mina. Fortunately, my wonderful and smart husband stepped in and took over the job of COO (Chief Organic Officer) and we found a beautiful turn-of-the century house, big enough for us and Green Babies (we thought!), in the rustic Hudson River Valley, just north of New York City. (Rip Van Winkle and Ichabod Crane territory.)

Nature spoke to us from the geese overhead and the woods up the street, and we felt the clothes were richer for it. We were shipping our clothes to stores all over the US and even the world! I'd run along up the street and wait for UPS with a kid on my hip and one doing homework on the warehouse floor. Oh yeah, and one in the oven, too.

We're Organically Growing

Our third beautiful baby, Nadia, was born. Finally our family was complete.

Although looking back it might sound like a blur of new babies and business, somehow we were able to stay grounded and keep it going. We always came back to our mission of providing the safest options for the most important people in the world--babies!

The digital revolution and my brilliant husband made life easier for us. We had one of the first retail 'green' sites online and were immediately lauded as "One of the Top Ten Mom and Pops on the Web" by MSNBC. InStyle Magazine recognized us as one of the top 100 gift sites on the web.

We kept innovating our clothes and began to offer wooden toys and rattles. It's all part of our focus on the next generation and our hopes that their world would be harmonious and beautiful and green.

Green Babies, Sage Moms

Because our vision includes education and interaction with parents everywhere, I decide to write a book to help new and expectant mothers (and dads) avoid potential toxins and embrace the positive differences real green choices can make to all our kids health and safety. My first book, Green Babies Sage Moms hit the stores Jan 3rd 2008. We had tremendous help from scientists, pediatritians and natural product experts for content in this groundbreaking book. This was the fist consumer book to talk about questionable safety in cosmetics, BPA, phthalates and triclosan. The universe was ready for the message that natural is better. I appeared in People Magazine, the TODAY Show, New York Daily News, Fox News, Access Hollywood and more.

I have used this on my son, for about a month now, and although it is super easy to wash him up, because it's safe for his hair as well as his body, I am not sure I really like the fact it leaves a scent to his hair hours after he's out of the bath  and his hair has been completely rinsed.


I do like the thickness of the soap though, it's not mostly watery or overly thick. Green Babies Shampoo and Wash is something I may consider using if I had a smaller baby then my almost 3 year old.

Danimal's Rally for Recess

Danimal's Rally for Recess is a wonderful idea. 


As a kid we all remember looking forward to recess, on those long days right. Sitting in class paying attention but wishing you could be out running around .  I know I would never had lasted in a class room for 7 hours a day with out the chance to run around to talk to my friends, in those early years. I have to say how cute the characters in the Mother Goose Club videos are...
I have toddlers in my home everyday, my 2 kids are 2 years, and 4 years old, plus I watch a 2 year old everyday, and I look for quality things to show the children once in a while. Something to listen to or watch while I make lunch is helpful.  I love to make sure they are watching educational things, but We have tons of fun with Cd's. I can plug in a CD and we have fun for hours signing along, dancing and playing along.

I love the idea, and I am very glad to be able to carry a cell phone, and my house keys with me. The waist strap is adjustable to fit different sizes but I'm not 100% sure it would fit a plus size. The perfect idea for the active person.

It did leave my skin looking better, I really wish I could use it far more often then I get to .
